Our Story

Vitalchat was born from a deeply personal place. Like many, we’ve stood at the bedsides of loved ones in the hospital — juggling worry, long drives, and the aching feeling of not always being there. As caregivers ourselves, we saw the very real barriers that exist between patients, families, and care teams. And we knew there had to be a better way to stay connected.

The idea first sparked during one of those visits: What if every hospital room had a camera—one that simply worked with the TV—to help clinicians connect more easily, and allow families to feel closer, no matter the distance?

Having worked in healthcare technology for years—including building the backend of a leading telehealth company’s platform— our co-founder, Ghafran Abbas set off to solve this challenge. He knew that for virtual care to truly scale, the system had to be powerful yet practical, and affordable enough to work in every room, not just a few. So, we built Vitalchat from the ground up: secure, scalable, and designed to work with the infrastructure hospitals already have.

And the purple in our brand? That’s a quiet tribute to nurses—the heart of the care team—many of whom wear lavender scrubs. It’s a reminder of who we’re here to support and why this work matters.
